A West London support service for women and girls suffering domestic violence was negotiating a new lease with the council.  Although the council provided no funding to the project, they wished to include performance targets for the service in the lease. 

As a result of discussing the norms of lease practice with the Foundation, the Director of the charity could meet the council confident of her position.  She was able to have the performance targets removed – and also negotiated a schedule of condition to be attached to the lease so that the charity would not be liable for the costs of improving the run down premises.
