“‘Few rich men own their property; the property owns them.’ so said Civil War veteran Robert Ingersoll back in 1896. During these first weeks at the Foundation, I have realised that though the charity professionals ringing us every day may hardly match the Rockerfellers, they are certainly as preoccupied – if not consumed - by their properties. Luckily for them, and indeed for me, the Foundation has a fantastic team on hand to help as well as committed funders.
Can you honestly remember a trickier time to be in the third sector? Whether we’re talking asset transfers, community bids or social value commissioning, it’s like we’re living through our very own industrial revolution. And so the Foundation is evolving at speed to meet the demand and I will be in touch over the coming months to tell you more.
