This week EPF announces three new fairplace Award® holders: West End property company Shaftesbury plc; York Place Shopping Centre in Newcastle under Lyme, managed by Hometown Plus Ltd and to London based Foundation Property & Capital Group

“With the property industry increasingly encouraged to champion social responsibility, the fairplace Award® allows good business to evidence best practice to the community outside the front door, the people in the workplace as well as the environment.says EPF CEO Antonia Swinson.

Brian Bickell, Chief Executive Officer at Shaftesbury, commented:
“We are delighted to have received the fairplace Award®, which is recognition of the ethical workplace practices on which we pride ourselves as well the importance we place on being a proactive and positive force in the communities in which we operate.”

Mike Riddell, Managing Director of Hometown Plus, says “The fairplace Award® is great news for York Place. It gives independent validation of our approach to revitalising this once-failing shopping centre. We are now working with our tenants to further improve the shopping centre as a place that is good for people, communities and our planet.”

Stephen Lansman, Chairman of Foundation Property & Capital Group
“We received the Award in 2014 and it has had tangible benefits to our business, including in procurement and partner engagement. We are therefore proud to be the first UK business to achieve the Award for the 2nd time. We are looking forward to finding new ways of working sustainably and encouraging others to manage their workplaces for the benefit of people and planet. And of course, we are also delighted to be supporting the great work of the Ethical Property Foundation.”

All fairplace Award® income supports the Ethical Property Foundation property advice and training for small voluntary groups. Existing fairplace Award® holders include CAFOD, RBS, EMCOR UK and also RICS for premises in London, Coventry and Edinburgh
